Commitment to Accessibility
Venture: Orange County is committed to providing equal access and usability to all visitors, regardless of ability or technology. We work toward conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our target standard, and we improve the site as we identify gaps. We do not claim full conformance, but we treat accessibility as a continuing obligation and address reported barriers in good faith.
Accessibility Features
The Site includes the following features to support accessibility:
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, labels, and landmark regions.
- Keyboard navigation: Interactive elements are designed to be accessible via keyboard.
- Color contrast: Text and visual elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast targets.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text where applicable.
- Form labels: Form fields are clearly labeled.
- Responsive design: Content adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels.
- Video captions: Embedded videos include captions where available from the source.
- Skip links: Links to skip to main content and navigation.
Known Limitations
While we work toward conformance, some limitations may exist:
- Third-party content: Embedded third-party media (maps, social feeds) may have limited accessibility features.
- PDF documents: Older PDF files may not be fully accessible; we prioritize accessible formats for new documents.
- Legacy features: Older content may not meet current standards and is updated as the site is maintained.
Accessibility Tools and Settings
- Browser zoom: Most browsers support text and page zoom (Ctrl/Cmd + plus/minus).
- Operating system: Use your device's built-in accessibility settings (high contrast, text size, screen readers).
- Extensions: Browser extensions for color contrast, text spacing, and reading aids are generally compatible.
Screen Readers
The Site is designed to be compatible with popular screen readers, including:
- NVDA (free, Windows)
- JAWS (Windows)
- VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
- TalkBack (Android)

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 10 business days and to remediate as soon as the issue allows.
Third-Party Services
The Site uses third-party services (analytics, email platforms, hosting providers). We consider accessibility when selecting third-party services and ask vendors about their accessibility practices, though we do not control the design of third-party tools.
If you have accessibility concerns about a third-party service used on the Site, please contact us and we will work with the vendor to improve access where possible.
Standards and Regulations
Our accessibility program targets conformance with the following standards:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA: The internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III: As applied to web content.
- California Unruh Civil Rights Act: Requires equal access to places of public accommodation, including websites.
Where the law obligates us, we work in good faith to meet those obligations and to remediate barriers brought to our attention.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We periodically audit the Site, incorporate user feedback, and update features to maintain and improve accessibility.
