Daniel Boulud's first California restaurant, inside Tiffany & Co. at South Coast Plaza
Blue Box Cafe is Daniel Boulud's first California restaurant: his Dinex Group's sister to the New York original, set inside Tiffany & Co.'s reimagined South Coast Plaza store. It is open to the public, serves Breakfast at Tiffany's and Afternoon Tea all day, and takes reservations on Resy exactly 31 days out at midnight. If you want the actual tea experience without flying to Fifth Avenue, this is the only California version of it.
Blue Box Cafe sits on Level 1 of South Coast Plaza, between Jewel Court and Carousel Court, inside the Tiffany flagship (opening announced September 8, 2026). It replaced the former Petrossian in the center. Boulud's team runs the kitchen; Tiffany provides the room. The Blue Box palette, china, and silver are the staging; the food is the operation.
The format is a sit-down tea room pace more than a drop-in cafe. Walk-ins get held tables through the day plus 7 first-come bar seats; everything else is Resy. Service is counted in courses and attention, not turns.
Breakfast at Tiffany's: Boulud's take on a formal breakfast service, available all day.
Afternoon Tea: the full tea service, also available all day.
A la carte: seasonal selection, with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options on request.
Tiffany Blue Box Cake: celebration cake available in two sizes (serves 2 to 4 or 5 to 8) in Chocolate & Caramel or Seasonal Fruit & Vanilla. Requires 48 hours' notice.
Specific menu prices are not currently published on the restaurant's menus page; book through Resy to see current pricing at the point of reservation.

This is a destination restaurant inside a store inside a mall, and that framing is doing most of the work. The ceiling for the experience is high: it is a formal Boulud tea service, in a Tiffany room, with a Blue Box Cake you ordered 48 hours ahead. The floor is also real: Resy sells out, walk-ins fill, and all-day menu does not mean the pacing is casual. Book exactly 31 days out at midnight for the date you want, treat it as the full service it is designed to be, and the ticket math works. Try to drop in on a Saturday afternoon without a plan, and you may not get in.
