Play Coffee

Multi-roaster specialty coffee in a former Wells Fargo space on Chapman.

Play Coffee's Orange location occupies the former Wells Fargo space on East Chapman, at the edge of the Old Towne plaza. The room keeps the character of the bank build-out — high ceilings, generous scale, sightlines to a bar where the specialty program is treated with genuine seriousness.

The Story

Founded by Leon Wansikehian, Play Coffee grew out of a Fullerton flagship built inside repurposed shipping containers. The Orange location was Play's second, sitting in a former Wells Fargo space on Chapman Avenue. The specialty program leans on multiple roasters rather than a single house program, so the menu rotates with whatever green coffee makes the cut.

The Atmosphere: Cathedral Ceilings

The scale of the former bank interior does most of the work. High ceilings, natural light, an exhibition-style bar. Comfortable for solo mornings and just as easy for a small group; the room absorbs both.

What to Order

Pour-Over—ask what's on the brew bar this week. The multi-roaster rotation means the coffee changes; that's the entire point.

Yuzu Espresso Shot—a signature specialty pull worth ordering if you like citrus-forward extraction.

Shaken Maple Latte—the accessible signature; sweet, structured, well made.

The Honest Take

Come here for the room as much as the cup. The multi-roaster model means the menu rewards curiosity — ask what just landed, and the answer will change month to month. The space alone would be worth a stop even if the coffee were average; it isn't.
